ALBAIK Food Systems has launched its annual anti-littering campaign for the year 2013 through a unique initiative encouraging kids to recycle instead of litter. In collaboration with Pepsi-Cola (Bugshan), Averda, Red Sea Markets company Ltd. and Alef Alef Radio, a Reverse Vending Machine (RVM) was introduced in Red Sea Mall for two weeks, where it was well received by a large turnout of kids as 960 boys and girls used it to recycle 7730 used cans and bottles.
ALBAIK Food Systems launched the campaign to raise awareness of the many ways in which we can keep our environment clean, namely by reducing and reusing waste and by recycling it in designated areas. The RVM, used in the recycling initiative, was manufactured in cooperation between Averda Company and Pepsi-Cola (Bugshan). People who wished to recycle their used bottles and cans placed their recyclables in the machine and received points, which they then redeemed for fun prizes.
Commenting on the vision behind launching the program, Rami Abu Ghazaleh, CEO of ALBAIK Food Systems, stated “ ALBAIK’s Anti-littering Campaign started as part of both our religious and social duty to encourage the most impressionable segment of society, the youth, to keep their city clean. The campaign has grown over the years and to this day, we are keen on continuing to promote this vision until , God willing, our final goal is achieved.”
He went on to say that this year the campaign has received positive results, with children participating by signing pledges to keep the environment clean, and by using the recycling machine. “We hope that this experience will be preserved in their memories and will be reflected in their daily behavior so that they become role models when it comes to maintaining the cleanliness and safety of the environment,” the company’s CEO said.
In addition to the Anti-littering Campaign, ALBAIK hosts an annual summer camp and training program called, ”With ALBAIK You Are the House Hero.” Last year’s program, which was the 11th annual program, succeeded with over 550 “House Heroes,” enrolled, bringing overall participation to 6000 students involved in the program since its inception in 2002
ALBAIK is one of the leading companies in the development of several educational and social programs dedicated to the development of minds and creativity among the youth in Saudi Arabia.
