Graduation ceremony of 10th annual ‘With ALBAIK You are the House Hero’ program held attended by Dr. Ali Al Ghufais, Governor of the technical and vocational training corporation
Dr. Ali Al Ghufais, Governor of the Technical and Vocational Training Corporation inaugurated the graduation ceremony which was the grand finale of the 10th Annual ‘With ALBAIK you are the House Hero’ summer program. The event was attended by the Governor, by Dr. Rashed Alzahrani, Chairman of the Jeddah Technical and Vocational Training Council, by Eng. Ihsan Abu Ghazaleh, Chairman of ALBAIK Food Systems and Eng. Rami Abu Ghazaleh, CEO of ALBAIK Food Systems, and officials from the Civil Defense and the Red Crescent, media and guests.
Speaking at the ceremony, Dr. AL Ghufais stressed on the important role played by the Technical and Vocational Training Corporation in developing skills across the Kingdom. He also lauded the achievements of the annual ALBAIK summer program, stating that partnership between the private and public sectors is invaluable in providing training programs for the benefit of youth by enhancing their talents and skills to become integral members of Saudi society and serving the community and their nation.
TVTC’s Governor pointed out that the “With ALBAIK you are the House Hero” program has become a major summer event hosted for the benefit of youth with the aim of teaching useful practical skills that complement their academic education and develop confidence and self esteem in a way that will benefit them both at home and in their future careers.
“Since the ‘With ALBAIK you are the House Hero’ program was launched 10 years ago we have seen many of our graduates taking on further vocational and technical training, proving themselves to be committed and responsible in using their time to develop their talents and learn new things” said Eng. Ihsan Abu Ghazaleh. He went on commenting: “This is an example of how such programs provide guidance and help shape the characters of our beloved youth. We are proud to see them heroes not only in their homes but for the nation as well”. He added : “The Kingdom’s youth are our future and with their talents, hard work and great ambition they are able to contribute to the development of the nation, not only for themselves but for the generations to come.” Eng. Ihsan concluded with “In launching the ‘With ALBAIK you are the House Hero’ program we are very pleased to partner with esteemed governmental and social organizations such as the Technical and Vocational Training Institute of Jeddah and Makkah, the Civil Defense, the Red Crescent, the Prince Majid bin Abdulaziz Society for Development and Social Services, and the Quranic Memorization Organization – Women’s Division.”
Speaking on behalf of the Jeddah Technical and Vocational Training Council, Dr. Rashed Alzahrani thanked the Governor for his support and noted that the program has achieved the goal of highlighting the importance of vocational and technical training for youth. He went on to state that ALBAIK’s program is a model example of partnership
between the public and private sectors for social responsibility initiatives that support the development of young people in order to help them in their future careers.
In celebration of the 10th Anniversary of the annual summer program, the House Hero students in Jeddah and Makkah participated in a community responsibility exercise, translating the lessons learned over four weeks into action with a clean-up initiative involving painting over graffiti defacing public walls in the two cities. The students’ trainers from the 1st Vocational and Training Institute in Jeddah and the Technical College in Makkah also participated in the clean-up campaign.
Launched in 2002, the ‘With ALBAIK you are the House’ Hero summer training program has witnessed the participation of more than 5500 male and female students. Now in its tenth consecutive year, the program is directed at boys 12–18 years of age and girls 8–16 years of age. The objective of the program is to support social development in the Kingdom by giving youth the opportunity to learn how to perform simple household tasks as well as to develop their talents in order to put them on the path to a bright and fulfilling future.
This year, a total of 580 students participated in the four week summer program that consisted of a series of instructional courses teaching useful and practical skills the students can apply in their homes, schools and future workplaces. Training courses included Home Maintenance, First Aid Procedures, Fire Safety and Prevention, Home Maintenance and Painting, among others.
